The after school cricket club at Hart Plain School operates during the second part of the spring term, (mostly instruction and indoor cricket games), and then during the summer term on the playground and the fields with fuller games and skills updates. We are blessed with wide expanses of fields to play. We welcome year 5 or 6 children, boys or girls, who have an interest in, though not necessarily knowledge of, the game. We are hoping to extend cricket to years 3 and 4 in the near future.
We enter various competitions at Year 5 and Year 6 levels. The most prestigious competition is the County Cup where we play our best players irrespective of age. Additionally, there is the year 6 festival afternoon in June, the Year 6 league, the Year 5 league and the Girls league. The club is limited to a maximum of 22 pupils.
The children have a chance to visit the Rose Bowl (the Hampshire Ground) to watch a Twenty/20 game; we are sometimes invited to play a demonstration match at The Rose Bowl, and have also played on the hallowed ground at Arundel Park.
Cricket club runs mainly on a Tuesday after school, commencing in February, although occasionally there are changes to accommodate matches and visits.
