We currently have several vacancies on our Governing Body. We are always looking for governors with the skills and experience we need to carry out our governance role. If you feel you have something to offer and would be interested in helping to assist with the leadership & management of our school, please contact the Chair of Governors or our clerk Mrs Susie Smart for more information.

Essential Criteria

Desirable Criteria

Willing and able to commit time and energy to the role.

Current or recent previous experience of school governance.

Ability to have courageous conversations in the interests of young people.

Good understanding of the current educational landscape.

Have an enquiring and analytical mindset and understand the value of meaningful questioning based on mutual respect.

Understanding of the current Ofsted framework in respect of Leadership and Management, including governance.

Be able to provide appropriate challenge, not taking information or data at face value.

Experience of strategic planning and/or change management.

Willing to listen to and work in partnership with others, building strong relationships with pupils, staff, parents and all other stakeholders.

Understand the principles of risk management, especially in an education setting.

Be prepared to offer support and challenge to the leadership of the school whilst remaining self-reflective in respect of own learning and development.

Ability to interpret and scrutinise school budgets.

Commitment to the Code of Conduct for School Governors and adherence to the Nolan Committee Principles of Public Life.

Good understanding of safeguarding procedures.

Committed to own personal and professional development through attendance at relevant training.

Understands the requirements relating to the education of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

 

 The Commitment we ask from our Governors is:-

  • To attend monthly meetings on Thursday’s 5.30-8pm (there are 9 a year)
  • To prepare at home with reading and researching topics and reports ready for meetings
  • Visit the school to meet with key staff to monitor the effectiveness of the school’s objectives.
  • To attend school events to represent the Governing Body and support the staff and pupils
  • To attend training in the areas required.
