Healthy Schools Award
At Hart Plain we understand the importance of healthy living. A healthy school considers the link between a healthy lifestyle leading to a healthy mind. This programme is a government initiative that looks to help raise the achievement of children in schools through physical activity and healthy eating. The programme is designed to enhance the awareness of the need to be healthy not only with children but with staff, parents and governors as well. We were awarded this status in 2006 and enhanced status in 2010. This is a project that we continue to focus upon at Hart Plain. We are proud to be a healthy school.
We were awarded Activemark in 2008-9 in recognition of the emphasis we give to PE. On average over 90% of pupils at
Hart Plain have two hours or more of PE and sport per week. Our children have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of activities including gym, cricket, multisports, football, speed stacking and rounders. As one Year 5 child said, “Its fun to play sport and it keeps you fit.”
