Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
At Hart Plain, we believe passionately in the importance of inclusion and equality for all children, in all aspects of school life. We strive to ensure our core values of aspiration, courage, integrity, happiness and respect are at the heart of our SEND provision.
We pride ourselves on the strong collaborations and positive relationships amongst pupils, parents, carers and staff that we have established. We actively promote a policy of openness and accessibility to encourage these partnerships. We will always involve parents and children throughout their journey with us and this collective ethos underpins our SEND philosophy.
We know that the earlier we identify SEND and provide support, the more successful our children will be. As such, we foster a personal and bespoke approach to identifying and providing for, the individual needs of children with SEND.
School staff, at all levels, have the knowledge and skills to support all children, including those with SEND. Senior leaders take collective responsibility for establishing effective SEND provision and championing the needs of the children throughout the curriculum. We also work closely with outside agencies to offer encompassing support, advice and expertise.
We actively promote independent working for all our children and we understand the particular importance of ensuring children with SEND are able to access learning that is specifically tailored to suit their needs. We are committed to providing highly skilled, professional support and resources for children with SEND to enable them to fulfil their individual potential and achieve their next steps in education.
Please read our SEND Information Report document as this answers any questions that you may have about how your child's learning, physical or emotional needs are supported by staff at Hart Plain Junior School. It tells you who to talk to and what support is in place to support your child. This document is located at the bottom of this page. Please also read our SEND Policy for additional information.
Our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator (SENDCO) is Emily Smith. Please make an appointment with your child's class teacher or with Mrs Smith if you have any concerns about your child's progress.
